Here’s a quote from the late great columnist Sydney Harris that I believe says much about the state of marriage in our culture: “Almost no one is foolish enough to imagine that they automatically deserve great success in any field of activity; yet almost everyone believes they automatically deserve success in marriage.” One of the best unexpected blessings of marriage is to count the parents of your spouse among your friends. Certain so called “parenting experts” may be saying the right things. So why do they have to say the right things in such a very wrong way? Three things guaranteed to bring out any “unfinished business” in a family: births, deaths and weddings. From now on, whenever we leave on a family trip, I will choose something to be the “designated item we forgot to pack.” I even have a place picked out in the garage to put it the day before we leave. It’s myth, perhaps started in the James Dean era, that teenagers have to rebel. They do have to learn how to separate from their family. This is a good thing, unless you want your kids living with you when they are thirty. But they don’t have to rebel. The decision to have a child is the decision to have your heart walking around outside of you for the rest of your life. No matter how hard we try not to, as parents we catch ourselves saying the very things we hated hearing from our own parents and swore we would never say to our own children. An old song seems to be the closest thing we have to a time machine. Hearing a favorite song can instantly take you back in time, place, and emotion. No matter what I’m doing, or how very busy I think I am, I just can’t resist these six words; “Daddy, will you play with me?” Psp Blender - Psp Movie, Game, Downloads. - Real Psp Downloads! Change Fear to Confidence By Claire Walsh When I signed up for the hill tribe trek in Thailand, I had not expected to walk across a tree used as the only "bridge" to the other side of the wide, running stream.Joyfully skipping along, singing "The Happy Wanderer," I turned the bend and emerged from the tree-lined trail to a vast opening. Startled at the challenge that greeted my eyes, I gasped. "This can't be the only way to cross that gulch," I nervously laughed. But no one eased my fe… 2. Beautiful Day Blues By Ridgely Goldsborough The massive orb dominates the aqua crystalline backdrop of its own making, floods its rays on everything below. The sky devoid of a single cloud seems as empty as I feel and the beach looks like an arid desert, molded by tireless wind and blazing heat. I picture myself atop an Arabian camel, parched with thirst, crossing an unforgiving series of never-ending dunes, up one and down the next, no rhyme nor reason, only the nose of the animal in … 3. Innocent Fun By Joseph Ghabi Just the other day, I escaped the business of my daily life and sought refuge on the water front here in Montreal in an attempt to recharge my energies.Taking advantage of a beautiful day, I walked along the long stretch of the Saint Lawrence River, as a way of my meditation routine. Whilst observing the birds enjoying their new spring my eyes fell upon the sight of a child and his grandmother playing. They were along together, enjoying that sp… 4. Oh, how deep it goes and how beautiful it is when discovered! She waits for someone to come like Prince Charming in the story of Cinderella who saw the perfect jewel of who she was when everyone else around her had missed it. The questions of the feminine heart from the time she is tiny are those which innocently ask, “Am I beautiful? Would you fight for me?”Too often the answ… |
